What’s next with Blogger

What's next with BloggerBlogger was created by Pyra Labs in 1999 and was acquired by Google in 2003. Ever since the acquisition, Google has been improvising and adding new features it. Blogger is changing and its changing real fast. Last year we saw lots of new features being added on to blogger like:

1. The Template Designer – This one is really really cool, and I must say that this is best got from blogger in 2010

2. Web Fonts – Blogger has integrated Google’s Web Fonts into the Blogger Template Designer, which gives the user the option to use these stunning fonts on our blogs without the need to add any CSS or JavaScript Snippets

3. Mobile Templates – This was another breakthrough, where blogger introduced a mobile version with post snippets and smaller thumbnails.

5. Auto Pagination – Many might have felt that this one is really causing a lot of trouble as they won’t really be able to control how many post would be displayed on a page. But this has really improved the page load times of most blogs.

There were many more like the Real Time Statistics, Comment Spam Filtering , Popular Posts gadget, YouTube integration, Better Post Previews and others.

What’s coming to Blogger?

Blogger has released a few screenshots about some of the new features that would be added to Blogger this year.

1. An improved Dashboard using GWT with a better and cleaner display.

2. Updated Post Editor

3. Some additions to the Blogger Nav Bar(Related Posts and Media)

  4. I am relatively new to blogging. I would love to see something that tells how to increase traffic. I see words and phrases up and down the side of some sights and random words here and there. I don't know why they are there. Any help would be appreciated.

  10. Okay, just what I suspected. Blogger is morphing into WordPress, slowly but surely! lol Last year's enhancements were fantastic.

I also love Blogger but hacked it so much to keep up with basic or 'must have' gadgets. Welcome news to see the upcoming improvements.

    Thanks for the great summary.

  12. There's only one thing I want from Blogger this year: paragraph tags. It's the one and only reason I never use the Blogger interface. Double line breaks are pathetic and Blogger should be embarrassed that they are still using them. It's mindboggling that they don't use the one HTML tag that specifically denotes text. Every other platform uses them, every website uses them, it is the standard. It's way past time for Blogger to use correct HTML.

Congrats on making blogger's "Blog of Note", by the way. Your blog is very well done. So well in fact, that I will be back to learn more.

  18. I just had an option to move to WordPress because blogging at Windows Live is being handled by someone else because Windows Live wants to be more like a social network, like Facebook. WordPress sucks! I love my new blogspot and blogging on Blogger is so cool! Watch what you wish for my friends because at WordPress you don't get a live feed for your page and I love the fact that we can use apps on our blogspots. It makes for a better place to visit and read, not just a place where it simulates picking up a newspaper with no animated gifs and no updated fun! This is one of the best blogsites I've found since losing my Space at WL. Keep up the good work but leave us our blogspots. Especially the advanced features so it can be a web site too! If you are looking for a good composing program that you can add any blogging site to try Windows Live Writer. It's the best!
