Create a Facebook Fan Page for your Blog

facebook-fan-page-for-blogger-blogs

Facebook is a great Social Networking Site to promote your blog or brand. Most of the major brands do have a Facebook Fan Page. Here are some examples of Facebook Fan pages – Coca Cola FB Fan Page , Mashable FB Fan Page. Are you impressed and wanna create one for your blog? I too wanted to create one and i finally made it. Here is the link of my Facebook Fan Page . So lets start making our own Facebook Fan Page for our blog.

1.Go to the Create Fan Page Link on Fabebook

facebook-fan-page-for-blogger

Select Brand, Product, or Organization > Website . Type the Name of your Fan Page and agree to make it public. Now just hit the Create Button and your Fan page would be created :)

2.On the Next Page, select the options Change picture and Edit Information and you what is to be done there :)

facebook-fan-page-for-blogger-2

3.Now the most important thing that you might want is to automatically import your blog posts to the Fan Page .From the Tabs, Click on the + and Opt for Notes.

add-notes-to-facebook-fan-page

On the next screen Opt to Write a New Note

write-notes-on-face-book-page

4.You will see an Editor and some icons at the Top . Click on the Notes Icon at the top.

import-notes-to-facebook-page

5.On the Next Page, opt for Import a blog

import-blog-to-facebook

6.On the next screen, type in your blog URL, and agree to the agreement and Click Start Importing

import-blog-posts-to-facebook

If this gives some error try using the url http://yourblog.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default

7.On the Next page, Confirm the Blog import

confirm-facebook-blog-import

8.After confirming, all your blog posts will be imported to the fan page. Now click on your Fan Page Link and get back to the fan page..

click-on-face-book-fan-page-link

9.promote-with-fan-box Now we have successfully created the Fan Page.If you want to remove some of the unwanted tabs like Discussions, Photos, Boxes etc, then you can go to that Tab and remove it.

Now you can add a Fan box to your blog so that your blog readers can join you on Facebook. To do this, goto the Page Badges Link .Select Fanbox from the Left menu

Now Select your page and the Options that you want and then opt to to add the fan box to blogger using the Blogger Button

add-fan-box-to-blogger

Now you should have the Fan box added on to your blog :)

Your Fan Page URL will look something like http://www.facebook.com/pages/Blogger-Widgets/252379165362 .Now if you have a pretty good number of fans(i think the minimum requirement is 25 fans) , then you can have a pretty facebook URL like http://www.facebook.com/bloggerplugins instead of a long one like http://www.facebook.com/pages/Blogger-Widgets/252379165362 .

To claim such small usernames for your facebook page, go to http://www.facebook.com/username/ and Click on Set a username for your Pages. There you can select the small pretty user name for your fan page.Once you opt for a user name you can’t change it back again. So be careful when choosing your Facebook Fan Page Username.

10. This is the most important Step of all ;)

Be my fan on Facebook ;)  and you will get all my blog updates on my Facebook Fan Page.

Hi,
Thanks for this -- do you know if there is a way to automatically update your fan page with blog entries, but then link to the blog, rather than creating a note of the whole posting? I'd like to drive traffic to my blog, and not allow people to read the whole post on FB. Thanks!

Amanda said...

This is really cool, but before I import the blog posts I have a question. I have one my feeds set up to just show a pragraph and then the visitor has to click the blgo title to go see the post. Do you know if the links work once these are imported? They aren't working in the preview, so I'm afraid to hit import. Also, my other blog feed has the entire post in the feed. I don't want the full posts on facebook, I want people to click over to my blog. Should I just continue posting manually? Thoughts?

Aneesh said...

@geogeo,
instead of typing in your blog url in the import box, type in http://yourblog.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/summary .In this case only post summaries will be imported, and at the bottom of the Summary note, you will get a link like "View Original Post" . You won't see this in the import preview.

@Amanda, i guess that i answered your question.. you can also import your twitter RSS feed into the notes application which will display your tweets as facebook notes..

Perfect, thank you!

Never knew that Facebook's fan page community, has an option to import blog posts through Notes. Wonder why Fb is hiding this option from public view.

Thanks for throwing some light on it, Aneesh.

When I first add my blog to my fan page, it shows 3 blog posts but then after I exit the fan page and return, only 1 post shows. Is there a way to set the number of posts that show on the fan page? All the blog posts appear in the NOTES box but not on the fan page.

Great tutorial! Thanks for your help. I used the /summary feed so that just a summary of the posts show in FB. Was wondering if there is a setting to also include a picture from the post instead of just the heading.

"Liz" (about 10 comments above me) could not get her feed URL to work... neither could I at first, but I figured it out, maybe this will work for her... I use blogger, and when I clicked Atom to get my feed URL, I just tried copying the address starting with "http://" (at top of my browser window), but found that Facebook did not accept that one, so I had to go back to my Atom feed page and click "subscribe," then I copied the address starting with "feed://" and that is the one that worked. My blog posts all showed up on my fan page and I am a happy camper. I also have my Facebook posts feeding to Twitter. Its all so very groovy! Thanks for the almost perfect post, but please look into the "feed://" URL issue and update you post if need be! :D

Aneesh said...

@All,
Facebook had removed the "Promote with Fan Box" link and replaced it with "Promote with Ad". But they still have the Fan box option elsewhere.. So the instructions in the post has been updated.

Anonymous said...

"Heather" You are an absolute legend! I couldn't work out whay my business' Facebook Fan Page suddenly stopped importing my blog. It had been working fine for months and then all of a sudden it just stopped working and I got the message "We couldn't find a feed using the URL you provided". I tried using the "feed://" and hey presto it's up and running again. Thanks!

S Malik said...

Thanks for the info. Quick techie question though, when I try to import my blog I keep getting errors. It either says it can't find a URL feed or it says that the URL I provided doesn't have any data. Obviously there's data so I'm not quite sure how to fix this. Any thoughts? The blog is http://campingwithcars.blogspot.com

Thanks!

julie said...

Ok, I apologize, I just read above about the feed://. I tried it and I'm still getting the errors. I'm not quite sure what you mean by an atom feed page though. I just changed http:// to feed://. Is there more that needs to be done to make it work? Sorry for all the questions. I'm just frustrated and am not that technically savvy when it comes to stuff like this!

Aneesh said...

try using http://campingwithcars.blogspot.com/feeds/posts/default

julie said...

Thank you Aneesh!! That did the trick. I appreciate the help and thanks for the blog information. :)

Ok, one final question... my blog imported but it's only showing up in the notes section, not on the wall. If I try to share it, it shares on my personal profile, not on my fan page. Do you have any tips for getting it to show up there? Thanks!

Kristen W. said...

Quick question...when I write a post to my blog (which I have already successfully imported to Facebook) it is very delayed in posting to my facebook page. I'm talking like 6-12 hours delayed...any suggestions out there for an immediate feed?

Rishabh said...

I tried everything mentioned here, to import my blog www.billyworm.blogspot.com but nothing works...neither the rss nor the atom feed! Please help!

Never mind, the exact same thing worked 2 minutes after that.

Arti said...

Thanks for your help. When I tried importing the blog into the FB fan page, there were hiccups as it would just not find the feed. It could be a mere superstition but I figured out this- if you failed to click on the disclaimer and let it flash the message to "check the box" before hitting save... the next time you click on the box and save, it'll do it.

El Chauvinisto said...

I get the same failure to import message as everyone else. I've tried it all...even feedburner, to no avail.

At this point, this post is a little outdated. My Fan box quit working yesterday because Facebook switched it over to a Like box instead. So, I go back into my account and get the new code to put on my site, and it still won't come up. Between Disqus and Facebook, I've had nothing but problems lately. Neither work any longer. I don't know if it has anything to do with with the new templates or what, but it's driving me crazy. Hope you do something on these soon.

BTW, the like button works...woo hoo!

Is there a way that I can transfer the friends on facebook profile to the page?

Taz said...

Hey thanks for sharing. I would liek you to have a look at this page and enlighten me if possible on how every post they make is like a new page on facebook. ITs got me into thinking (P.s i m not much of a techie just know basics) http://loljokes.net/joke/13462/

Example a friend liked this page: and it shows:

SK likes Women love cats. Men say they love cats, but when women aren't looking, men kick cats. on facebook likes. ·

Here the "facebook likes" has link to a page which is not on facebok but has layout like facebok.

Thanks please I need to know how they are doing this.

Thanks!

Thanks

Hello, Aneesh! I have created a facebook page for my blog but though all the posts appear in full in the preview, they don't show up anywhere after I hit the 'confirm import' button. I waited for days and nothing. Your help would be valuable! Thanks in advance.

After finishing the steps in the article, the hyperlink for note title does NOT links to my original blog directly. The readers have to click "View Original Post", then go to my blog.
How can I do if I want the note links to my blog like your page?
