How hard would it be to modify a copy of this widget to show the top authors for a team based blog?

I'd like something that does a list and/or cloud format of authors by post count.

yea.. it is possible.. a widget which lists the top authors..i think your top author is Jim Kelly with 813 posts.. hope i am right..

Thanks a lot for your help for my blog, I don't realize about the mistake. I am amazed looking your blogspot site and other blogger such as Amanda that using blogger.com as their blogging platform. I don't know much about useful widget for my site and always hope can migrate to wordpress. But I think after this I should carry on my blogspot site and getting own domaian name for it. Hi, is there a way to get rid of the numbers or customize it a little?

yea it is possible if you want to remove the left numbering.. delete the following 2 lines from the widget code..
document.write('<ol>');
and
document.write('</ol>');

If you want to remove the number of comments,then i would have to modify the yahoopipe used for this..

I just have a question: would there be any way for the calculations to be made using more than 5000 comments? It's that I checked and my blog is approaching 5500, and while that isn't a big difference at all it means the numbers will become less accurate as time passes and more comments come in.

I had trouble with this but I found of that it worked fine if I removed the / at the end of the url of my blog. And no spaces in the filter.

@Alexandre Brendim if you have the classic blogger template, then you will have to manually add the script to your blog's template..

First fill in the widget installer and you will be taken to Add Page element page
There opt for Edit Content. Copy out the entire code from there and close that window. Now add the copied code to your classic template..

@रंजन yes you can use the widget on any blog..You just have to fill the widget installer with the blog url whose commentors are to be displayed..

@nordish by nature the widget becomes empty when you fill the widget installer improperly,.. ;)

Actually you should fill the widget installer with ostseewind.blogspot.com and nothing else.. means you shouldn't add a www or http:// at the beginning and you shouldnt add a slash at the end.. i have tested the widget with your commentor list and it is working..your top commentor is berliner luft und ostseewelle (17) ;)

yea its true. and there is a work around for that too..
just use Yi%20Lin as the filter ie.replace all spaces with %20 .. :)

Hmm... I did click on customise. I played around with the coding and finally got it.

To filter out Yi Lin, Dannie and Anonymous, I had to replace the filter section of the code with 'Yi%20Lin%2CDannie%2CAnonymous'

I guess the %2C replaces the comma.

this widget is based on yahoo pipes.. Yahoo servers doesnt like too much of their bandwidth being consumed.So they reject some requests.That is why the widget fails at times..

I have noticed though- that some of the numbers are quite inaccurate. For example I know that my top two commentators have over 100 comments each but this is reporting 48 and 35... I am not sure why. Any clues?

Something has gone wrong with this widget.

I had a commentator who topped with 52 comments and now they are reduced to 11 and the numbers have changed from high to low for others as well

its nothing wrong with the widget. The widget scans the latest 500 or 5000 comments only(depending on the widget you added). So the comment counts will change with time..

I'm using this, love it thanks! But...the numbers keep changing that are listed. Naturally they should go with each comment someone makes; but some of them have gone done. I've not deleted the comments of those that have gone down?? I also question if it's counting them all? Could you look, my top commentor, Jan has commented on almost all my posts. Todate, I've had 62 posts, you can see her numbers only indicate about half???

Can i have a widget like they are on Wordpress, where comments are on the top of the posts? Cos down there at the end, nobody finds them.

It's not working for me.
I've tried repeatedly to get it working and read through all the comments for hints and nothing has worked.

I tried entering the web address in various ways, so that isn't the issue,

The filter used to work for me, but doesn't anymore :( It shows me as a top commenter.

Besides listing me as THE top commentator, the widget displays incorrect comment counts. Totally useless -- I'm uninstalling.

I have it installed on my sites and you will get a lot of spam, but it is filtered and I have to approve all my submissions first. I state right on my blog that you must leave a comment that is more that just “cool site” or I will delete it. It filters all the spam out, so all I have to do is hit delete. I highly recommend it.
