Blogger Launches a new Template Designer

Blogger Launches a new Template Designer

Blogger has now launched a new Template Designer along with 15 new default templates. All of these templates are highly customizable Each of them comes with different layouts and you can modify and redesign your template without much knowledge of CSS and HTML

How To switch to a new Template and use the Template Designer

1.Login to Http://Draft.Blogger.Com

2. Click on the Layout Tab and you will find a new Template Designer Tab there

3. Click that and you will be taken to the new Template Designer.

4. There you will find 15 new templates to choose from . You can see the Live Preview there.

5. The Template designer comes with a cool set of customizers. There are plenty of images to choose from. You can change the layout(1 column, 2 column etc) and you can change almost everything on the template.

You can adjust the Width of the Columns by using simple Sliders and adjust the colours fonts etc.

So just try it out. you are gonna love it..

Hope to see more and more templates being coded in such a way that they can be edited using the designer..

i found that the "window" form doesn't allow you to see the background all the way down the entire blog, but instead just the frist page. why is that? can it be fixed?

I want to change template to my old blog (3 years completed),if i change template with Template Designer can i loose any data .

Aneesh said...

@Quality - Changing The template wont affect the posts or comments present on your blog. But as expected, you will loose your old template and any customizations that you had made to the template.

I was in talks with a designer to build me a new blog to my exact specifications but instead, with the new tools, I got exactly what I wanted with 5 minutes of brainless clicking. Thank you, Blogger!

Aneesh, I want to change Footer Layout for my old blog with Blogger Template Designer but i am seeing this message there " This template does not allow for layout customizations.Rearrange your gadgets by dragging them to dotted sections in the preview below.Go to Layout > Page Elements in Blogger to add, remove, or edit gadgets." Any Idea its my blog,( http://uniquecoolwallpapers.blogspot.com/ ) THANKS .

Aneesh said...

@Quality - if you need to adjust the width and other settings, then you will have to switch to a new template(from the 15 provided by blogger)

Jimmy Jangles said...

Aneesh, any way to make the width of a blog in the new template design wider than the 1000px currently on offer? Cheers for any advice.

Why can I have the tools like you have right now? Do I have to publish by a domain? Is there anything I can do about it?

Warren said...

Maybe I'm lucky, it doesn't show on my Layout options. I know I tried to change the template a month ago and it screwed everything up. I was really worried I couldn't get it back, but finally did.

I've tried this on a test blog and using the template designer erases any custom code you've added to the main HTML code(Google Analytics, custom widgets).

Is there a way to preserve my custom code and get the new layouts at the same time? Or do I need to add them manually?

Aneesh said...

@Catastrophic - yes you will loose any mods done by you and so you will have to add them manually :). Hope that issues like these will get fixed when the designer comes out of Draft.
